Introduction
Heart 104.9 FM is a a well-known radio station based in Cape Town, South Africa.
The station started out as P4 Radio in July 1997. It got famous for playing really good jazz music and soon became a favourite among many listeners.
In 2006, the radio station decided to change things up. They changed their name to Heart 104.9 FM (later shortened to Heart FM). With the new name came new types of music- not just jazz, but a good mix of different kinds of tunes that more people could enjoy.
By 2013, Heart FM reported that they had expanded their reach beyond Cape Town and into Western Cape Province areas like Drakenstein and West Coast among others. This meant that even more people could now tune in and enjoy their diverse music mixture and entertaining shows.
Today, everyone knows Heart FM as an enjoyable professional radio platform that presents a great mix of jazz, soul-pop music paired with interesting talk shows on various subjects.
About the station
Just a quick walk down memory lane – Heart FM didn’t always go by that name. Back in 1997, it was P4 Radio, charming the listeners with pure jazz and quickly becoming a must-listen for high earners.
Fast forward to 2006, they had a big shakeup – rebranding to Heart FM. All while keeping their roots strong but also embracing other music genres to connect with an even broader audience. That’s how they became “Cape Town’s Beat.”
And because good vibes should be shared, in 2013 they extended their reach beyond Cape Town to places like Drakenstein, West Coast and Overberg among others.
